Growing up, I didn't spend too much of my time watching hockey. I initially saw it as a bunch of men chasing each other all over the ice but after I was invited along to be a photographer for a beer league championship, my understanding of the game changed.
It's so much more than men chasing each other. It's a sport about teamwork, hard work, discipline and dedication. It takes an incredible level of skill to chase down a puck on the ice and and a considerable amount of precision to knock that tiny puck into a net. Having been a sports photographer, I was able to witness the big moments - the victories and the pain that comes from a defeat.
